How to measure post height

Measure post height

Diagram shows how to figure post height, by adding attachment height with your grade slope and then subracting your beam height and pitch you will know what the post height is.

"A" is the distance from the bottom of the hanger to the ground, "B" is the amount of fall your ground or concrete slab has going away from the home, "C" is the beam height, and the pitch is figured by taking the distance from your attachment point to the outside of the post or beam and multiplying the desired pitch, take "A" + "B" and subtract "C" an "D" to get your post height.

If you're not sure it's better to order long and cut down than it is to be short.

Each post may have a slightly different height if the ground or concrete slopes in the length direction of the cover, check "B" at the lowest point and you will be able to cut the rest of the posts to fit.
